As the story goes: On an early 2007 Tuesday night at The Gypsy Lounge,
AJ & Chris suddenly decided to present to the audience an impromptu
duet. Chris, off mic: "What should we do?" AJ: "Do you know any old
hymns? How about "It Is Well With My Soul?" Now months thereafter, the
story has culminated with this new release from AngelspeakMusic:

The material was recorded live in-studio, featuring simply their
voices and instruments (piano & acoustic guitar, respectively), keeping
true to their love for unspoiled "live performance". The result is a
collection of dynamic performances that capture a wide-range of emotion.
In addition to the 9 old hymns they rearranged and performned, the boys
did craft one new original song for this project:

• "Sweeter The Pain (I Will Sing)"

...inspired by the scriptures' ancient tragic story of the
suffering worshipper Job.

5.02.07 - AJ sweeps at 2007 OC Music Awards!
WINNER!! We're pleased to announce that in both categories for
which he received nominations at the 2007 OCMAs, HE WON!! Now we can
officially call AJ Orange County's:

• Best Male Artist
• Best Live Acoustic Male Artist

That earns him a spot performing live at next year's big OCMA
awards night at The Grove of Anaheim - don't miss! - March 29,
2008. This year's event on March 31st was a big bash and a great
party all around, with the best of Orange County's independent
artistry in tow. Even AJ's own mother got into the action, going up
to the podium to accept his first award on his behalf, since AJ
hadn't yet arrived at the ceremony. Classic! Be sure to check out
the recorded television broadcast when it airs live on Local Cable in
May 12, 2007. Check local listings.

And big congrats to our friends DECCATREE for also coming away with
two (2) OCMA Awards this year (Best Song, Best Indie Band); also CHRIS

AJ DeGrasse has teamed up with former Wonderlove frontman Chris Paul
Overall (Long Beach, CA) to record a full-length collection of old HYMNS
and spirituals. Having both grown up in and around churches, they
discovered a shared nostalgic love for these old treasures of music and
verse, and thus set out to create original arrangements of their own,
and to record them in an acoustic and "live feeling" fashion for this
special release. AJ and Chris are currently recording and mixing this
collection in May/June in studios from San Diego to Sacramento, CA.
