09.23.09 - interview
check out the interview that just came out on savethesetlist.com....good times!
09.19.09 - Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...
I guess it's been a while since I have posted any news...sorry. Well, just to bring you all up to speed, I've been involved in several different musical things over the past 6 months or so. The main thing I've been doing is playing with my band The Saps on Monday nights at The Auld Dubliner in Long Beach. We've been doing 3 50-minute sets of a bunch of classic covers. It's really been a fun stretching exercise for all of us. Pretty much the entire time I've been playing live music I have sworn off doing cover songs. I realized though that most of The Beatles' early career was spent doing cover music along with their own originals. I kinda wish I'd done it before. Hopefully I'll get to start working on some new original music here in the near future.
My other band, Wonderlove, has also been playing shows again. We're now taking a little time off from the live performances to work on new songs.
Next month, I'll be playing a show with The DIBS. I have been playing guitar for these guys for about 3 years now. We'll be playing at the Gypsy Lounge on October 17th with Echo Echo and Rival Sons.
Lastly, I've been doing a lot of session work with the Triode Music songwriting team. They have been writing songs for different artists which I come in and sing on for their demos. It's been awesome getting to work with my old buddy Gannin Arnold(guitarist for Taylor Hawkins' band, and John Tesh amongst other things) and Grammy award winning songwriter Charlie Midnight.
That's about it but check the tour section for all of my upcoming dates. I just posted a bunch.

Between touring I've been working diligently on tracking for the new album. I'm about 25% done so far. Shooting for an April or May release on that. Right now I'm calling it "Moment At A Time". A departure from the previous "The ---" series (The Sways, The Bruiser, The Hymns Collaboration)...or maybe I'll call it "the Moment..."
Be good to one another and all that. I hope to see you soon.

11.23.07 - NORCAL & HAWAII
It's been a while since an update. Sorry for that. I've been writing and putting together demos for my next record. I'm pretty much ready to start the recording process now. AJ DeGrasse and I have also been doing a whole bunch of touring in support of the hymns collaboration.
This week we are heading up the coast of California for a short trip and then heading out to Hawaii on Dec 8 to do some stuff out there. Check the tour section to find out when we're coming your way.

07.28.07 - AJ+CPO: The Hymns Collaboration
You can now purchase the new album in the music section. Includes 9 new arrangements of classic hymns performed by AJ DeGrasse and I. Track 10, "Sweeter The Pain (I Will Sing)", is a brand new song AJ and I wrote together.
04.25.07 - Full Band Hiatus
I will not be doing any full band shows for an undetermined period of time. I'll be taking this time to focus on the release of my new Hymns album I'm recording with AJ DeGrasse. I'll also be writing and reinvinting my sound a bit. Since my split with Wonderlove nearly 4 years ago now I haven't really taken the time to step back and get focused on where I want to go next sonically. As soon as I get a focused plan going I'll be back in the studio with a band for the next record.
If you'd like to still be involved in that process though come down to the Gypsy Lounge every Tuesday night as I try stuff out and introduce new things I'm working on.

04.03.07 - We Won!!
Saturday March 31st was the Orange County Music Awards Ceremony held at The Grove Theater in Anaheim. We took away the award for Best Rock.
03.20.07 - Long Time No Talk
Hey kids,
The band and I just got back from a week long tour to Texas with our buddies in Thinking Aloud. We had a great time and nobody got hurt. I'll be heading back to Texas solo with my good friend AJ Degrasse in May sometime...I'm dreading the heat though.
Speaking of AJ, the shit of shits and I will be headed up the coast this weekend to play a couple of shows in Fresno, Reedley and Sacramento. Wish us luck and keep us in your prayers.
This just in the men and I of the CPO band are up for 3 OCMAs this year. The categories include, best song, best live band and best Rock. The awards ceremony is held on March 31st at the Grove of Anaheim. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or from ticketmaster in advance. Get tickets now though this event will sell out.
And last but most definently not least, I wanted to remind you all that AJ Degrasse and I play every tuesday night at the Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest. It is "always" a great night of music as we are joined by local and touring singer/songwriters every week. Come discover the greatest undiscovered.
That's it for now. Make sure you brush your teeth and floss everyday and support your local independent deadbeat musicians. We need yous!!

12.15.06 - Happy Holidays
I just posted a new video on the myspace profile. This is my performance on Open Mic TV of "Everywhere". I like the way they make me sound like a half way intelligent human being in the interview. Shut up and sing CPO!!
This coming week, on Thursday Dec 21 we will be doing an acoustic Christmas party at the Gypsy Lounge. We are raising money for less fortunate kiddos so bring wrapped toys and celebrate the holidays with us at the gypsy lounge in Lake Forest.
The official release date of the new acoustic EP entitled "The Sways" is Feb 2 at the Gypsy Lounge. Looks like Deccatree, Pawnshop Kings and Thinking Aloud will be doing that one. I know what your thinking...Thinking Aloud is...loud. Yeah but they kick ass and I want them to play. Just because I'm releasing an acoustic EP doesn't mean were gonna sit around and sing mopey acoustic music all night. There will be a little but come on...it's a party ya'll. The sappy types can come to the night not scheduled yet at Plush with myself and Mike Barnet.
Ya'll TEXAS FOLKS can expect a return visit in March. I'm still trying to figure out the legistics but I'll let you know soon. We will be doing a cd release party in Ft Worth for sure.

CPO and The Saps

11.04.06 - The Red Light Is On
Started recording yesterday for my upcoming acoustic release which is untitled as of yet. We're trying something new with this one to better represent what you would hear at one of my live acoustic performances. With a U47 on the vocals and 2 mics that look like black pocket sized flash lights on the acoustic, everything is being performed live. It makes me nervous because I've always recording the non-traditional way of over-dubbing til you get it right. But as always when Mark and I get into the studio/living room, we always have to start by asking ourselves, What would George Martin do? After referring to a behind the scenes type of recording of the "blackbird" session, we realized this was the way. In the recording you can hear that Paul McCartney is singing playing the acoustic and tapping his foot in one solid take. It's pure, its raw and its amazing. There is one huge difference and that's that I'm not Paul McCartney, but a wise man once said shooting for the stars is what makes us land on the moon.
I'll be in Texas in a couple weeks with my homeboy Jay Buchanan doing a couple of shows. Check the tour section for details.

07.27.06 - We have a new SAP...

07.03.06 - From the Woodshed
I just wanted to drop in and give everyone a little update. CPO and The Saps have been on a short hiatus since our return from Tejas. It's given Cory a chance to release his EP "Grow" and believe it or not I've gone back to the drawing board on the next project as the follow up to "The Bruiser". So far I've written 3 complete songs and I have 9 other skeletons for songs going as well. There is also the other couple that didn't make the final cut on "The Bruiser" that might make their way onto this one. As of now, I haven't decided on an album tital or a central theme to the whole thing but at this point it is way too early for that.
We will be doing a couple of shows coming up so check the tour section for more deets.
